Cleats are one of the most important items you can buy for football, aside from a concussion protecting helmet. The cleats you wear can greatly effect your play on the field: how you cut, move, and your speed. There are many things to think about: low, mid, or high top; mold or screw in cleats; and the style/look.
- Low top recommendation :
Nike Untouchable 2 Pro
- Positive review I read: cheaper than the Vapor 2’s, comfortable and light, fit like a glove, best traction you will ever feel, durable
- Negative reviews I read: very tight at first until broken in, hard to put on
- If you break these in they are a great cleat and very lightweight and good for cutting. Cheaper than the Vapor 2’s but lose out to the Vapors 2’s in comfort so they get an 8/10.
- Mid top recommendation: Men’s Nike Vapor Untouchable 2
- Positive reviews I read: they are lighter than expected, everyone loves the look, good lateral cutting for skill players, substantial shoe that is durable, easy to get on but locks your foot in.
- Negative reviews I read: chrome on the bottom wears off easily, expensive, narrow shoe
- Shoe is made of the comfortable and durable flyweave material and has the flywire cables that wrap around your midfoot to lock it in. Has molded in cleats with a new cleat design designed for more responsive pivot and release. 9.5/10 because of the price, other than that a perfect cleat.
- High top recommendation: Under Armour Men’s UA Highlight
- Positive reviews I read: fit like a glove, great ankle support, good looking, good traction, good price
- Negative reviews I read: laces too long, need to break them in, some don’t like the super high top look
- I think the high tops look best on linemen but all positions wear these and I think they are better looking than Nike’s high tops this year. The ultimate ankle support if you have ankle problems. Amazon has these for about $20 cheaper than the UA site in a ton of colorways. 9/10 because not everyone likes the look but if you do it is a great cleat at a great price.
